This little guesthouse is located in Ortisei in Val Gardena, Italy in the Süd Tirol and sits all on its own at the side of the road overlooking the town and valley. The views are really outstanding, you get exactly what it says on the building side. Dolimitenblick means Dolomites view.
They only really speak Italian or German, with a spattering of English, but don’t rely on this. The owner is a quite mature lady, who is quite pleasant and certainly became friendlier as each day went by. She also runs the place on her own, with a little help from her young granddaughter, who I chatted to a few times.
The facilities are a little basic, I had the single room, so I am unable to comment on
the rest. There is a television, which receives Italian and German speaking channels. It is not expensive however so it is good value, comfortable, clean and a pleasant place to stay.
The bed is comfortable, the shower works well and everything is spotlessly clean. Some coffee/tea making facilities would be appreciated. There are not even any cups or glasses, although I am sure they would be provided if requested.
My only real complaint about this place however is that a little more imagination in the choice for breakfast would be nice. That said there are rolls, meat, cheese, jams, yoghurts and muesli daily. Yeah I know what am I am whining about?
There is a garage to put skis and other equipment in, and a decent amount of parking space. This is just as well as it is located a good ten minute walk from the town and towards the top of a hill, so a car is recommended.
The bottom line is, if ever skiing in this part of Italy again, I would definitely stay here!
