I have not always been a great fan of zoos, too many of them had a bad track record for looking after the animals in their care. This situation has fortunately changed in recent times, many have become an animal sanctuary with an effective captive breeding programme and some may even become the last refuge of certain endangered species.

The Parc Animalier Pyrénées which is one of the most popular of its kind in Europe. The enclosures are being enlarged in the near future, greatly improving the existing facilities, which are already fairly good. The animals seem well cared for and generally happy in their surroundings.
He’s a little shy
They are either indigenous species of the Pyrénées or ones that used to roam freely throughout the region in better times.
A very alert little fella
Accommodation is also being built in the form of a log cabin which will allow guests to stay close to the wolf enclosure. Enjoying a meal and then an evening with these stunning creatures will be an amazing experience before getting a good night’s sleep in a comfortable bed. Being one of the first to stay here will be an unforgettable experience and I would love to be amongst the privileged few.
