Barcelona is reknowned for Gaudi and it would be strange to visit and not include an image of his distinctive architecture. He is Spain’s most famous architect and is synonymous with the city and the modernist style.
There is even a ‘Gaudi Trail’ which enables both casual tourists and keen followers to experience the best examples on a relatively easy but complete day tour of the city. All of his most famous buildings are included; the Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, La Pedrera and this one Casa Batlló.
Named after the textile industrialist Josep Batlló who commissioned Antoni Gaudi to build it in 1904 and was completed 2 years later in 1906. It is a perfect example of his imagination, design flair and attention to detail and is especially striking when lit up at night.
